South Lift Station Replacement Project
The South Lift Station Replacement Project consists of upgrades to the South Wastewater Lift Station and a new force main that runs down S. Gear Ave. City will be accepting sealed bids for the South Lift Station Replacement Project until Thursday, August 27, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. Council will hold a Public Hearing on the Proposed Project August 19, 2020 and consider awarding the bid September 2, 2020
Huston Street Resurfacing Project
The Huston Street Resurfacing Project consists of resurfacing Huston Street with asphalt, from 150’ west of Vernon east to Swan Street. The contract for this project was awarded to Norris Asphalt Paving Co., LC, for $320,082.60. The Engineer for this project is French-Reneker-Associates.
Gear Ave. Trail Project
The Gear Ave. Trail Project is a pedestrian and bicycle trail that connects the Southeastern Community College Campus to the Great River Health Campus along S. Gear Ave. The City was awarded $280,000 from a Federal grant through the Iowa's Transportation Alternatives Program (Iowa's TAP). The total cost for the engineering and construction was $280,830. The contractor for this project was Jones Contracting. The contract was awarded to Jones Contracting for $287,777. The City is responsible for a local match of $103,830, which will be split three ways between the City of West Burlington, Southeastern Community College and Great River Health Systems.
WATER TOWER PROJECT
Improvements include the construction of a 500,000 gallon composite style water tower. The project will also include the installation of approximately 4,400 feet of water main and 530 feet of storm sewer.
DES MOINES COUNTY LANDFILL SEWER AND LIFT STATION PROJECT
This project includes the extension of the City's sanitary sewer and construction of a lift station to serve the Des Moines County Landfill. The Landfill will reimburse the City for the project costand use of the City's sanitary sewer system.
