Wastewater Disinfection Facility Plan
Snyder & Associates has been contracted to offer engineering
services in connection with the Wastewater Disinifection Facility
Plan. The City's wastewater treatment plant operates an
AeroMod System in parallel with an aerated lagoon system whihc
ultimately discharges into Spring Creek. The Iowa Department
of Natural Resources (IDNR) is currently increasing Water quality
standards, and prior to the issuance of a revised NPDES permit, a
USE Assessment and Use Attainability Analysis (UA/UAA) must be
completed for the receiving stream. At this time the UA/UAA for
recreational uses has been completed for Spring Creek.
Analysis of the data has indicated a desigination of Secondary
Contact Recreation Use to be appropriate for this receiving stream
indicating that there likely will be more stringent bacterial permit
limits in any future NPDES permit. Also, an evaluation of the
existing AeroMod blowers including possible modification,
replacment, addition of a third blower for redundancy, and housing
of the units within a building will be performed. In order to
determine what improvements may be necessary, as well as to obtain
IDNR approval for improvements and to assist in qualificaiton for
various financing assistance programs, a wastewater Facility Plan
must be prepared.
Mall Road Reconstruction
