Houston & Van Weiss Extensions (Mall Road Project) & Intersection at Kimberly Drive and Ramsey Street.


The City has awarded a bid of $871,957.55 to Mike Nelson Concrete Paving Company for reconstruction of Huston Street and Van Weiss Boulevard on the north and east side of of Westland Mall and the intersection at Kimberly Drive and Ramsey Street.  The work has started and the contractor has 70 working days to complete the project.

The street will be a concrete street with curb and gutter. The project includes removing existing pavement; earthwork; scarifying and compacting the subgrade; constructing a granular subbase; removing and constructing storm sewer pipe and intakes; constructing the pavement; constructing longitudinal subdrains; finish grading; and seeding.

General Obligation Bonds will be issued to pay for the project.  The bonds will be repaid using Tax Increment Financing Proceeds.

Drainage Improvements at Broadway Avenue and Agency Rd and Reconstruction of Intersection

French-Reneker-Associates has been contracted to offer engineering services in connection with the storm sewer from Division Street to the intersection of Agency Road and Broadway and the reconstruction of the Intersection.

The construction bid was awarded to Langman Construction in the amount of $999,361.01.  The construction is to be 120 working days starting no later than August 15th.

General Obligation Bonds will be issued to pay for the project.  The bonds will be repaid using Tax Increment Financing Proceeds.
