Q.

What does my new water account cover, how do I pay and where?

A.

West Burlington water, sewer, garbage and recycling are covered under one bill.

You receive a monthly statement that is due by the 15th. It may be paid by mail addressed 122 Broadway, or in person from 8:00am - 5:00pm Mon.- Fri. at City Hall, or in our outside drop box located on the east side of city hall. It may also be set up to be deducted automatically each month from a banking account.

When will my garbage be picked up?

A.

Monday; Nov. - April, west of Leffler St.
Tuesday; Nov. - April, east of Leffler St.
Monday & Thursday; May - Oct. west of Leffler St.
Tuesday & Friday; May - Oct east of Leffler St.

If you have an alley, place garbage cans in rear of property at alley edge. If
you do not have an alley, place garbage cans curbside in front of property

Q.

Am I required to license my animals?

A.

West Burlington does not require animals to be registered. However the City does have a leash law that prohibits pets to run at large in the City limits.

Q.

Is there a Recycling center here?

A.

Yes, it is the Des Moines County Recycling Center located at 1818 W. Burlington Avenue, Burlington, Ia. Please call 753-8126 for information on hours and pickup.

Q.

What do I do with my yard waste?

A.

For large items you will need to call Laverne's Sanitation (753-0405) for more details. For small brush and yard waste you may take it to the compost pile located at 515 W. Glasgow, following the rules posted. Open leaf burning is allowed Oct.15th - Nov. 30th, Wednesday & Saturday's. No burning on seal coated or asphalt streets or in alleys.
