Duties and Responsibilities:
The Development Services
Coordinator plans, organizes, directs, and coordinates the operations and
activities of the office of Development Services; maintains knowledge
of the ordinances and codes of the City and the State of Iowa in
regard to construction, renovation and alteration of buildings
within the city limits.
Business
License If you are opening a new Business in West
Burlington please be sure to apply for your Business License by completing an application
and returning it to City Hall. Business Licenses are required for
Temporary Vendors and Permanent Businesses.
Rental Housing If you
are the owner of rental property in West Burlington, you are required
to register you property within 90 days of purchase/transfer of
title, or change of occupancy status. This ordinace became
effective January 1, 2009. Please be sure to apply for a
rental permit by March 31, 2009 to avoid paying a
$250 late registration fee.

Duties and Responsibilities The Fire Inspector -
Marshal position is contracted with the City of Burlington, Iowa. It
is the responsibility of the Fire Inspector - Marshal to save lives
and property through the enforcement of adopted codes, through plan
review and inspection; perform inspections of public and private
buildings for compliance with adopted codes, investigate all fires
to determine the cause and responsible person, provides public
education directed at the prevention of fires and also means to
protect one's self in the event of a fire.

program or by on-site inspections completed by the fire marshal.

Biography Mark began his fire
career with the West Burlington Fire Department in 1984. In 1988 the
Burlington Fire Department hired Mark full time. Mark has served the
department as a Paramedic Specialist, EMS Instructor, Hazardous
Materials Technician, Shift Captain, and Fire Marshal. Mark and his
wife Jody have 3 boys, Andrew, Nathan, and Daniel.
