Special Council Meeting April 29, 2002 – 5:30 P.M.
The West Burlington City Council met in Special Session at 118 W. Wheeler Street with Mayor Trousil presiding. Council Members Crowner, Hockett, Johnson, Lees and Pilger were present. City Administrator Mandsager, Building Inspector Hoy and Police Chief Walters were also present. Lees moved, second by Johnson, to approve the Agenda as presented. Voice vote. All ayes. Motion carried.CITIZEN’S INQUIRIES: - None.
NEW BUSINESS:
Closed Session: To discuss the purchase of particular real estate only where premature disclosure could be reasonably expected to increase the price the governmental body would have to pay for that property – Lees moved, second by Johnson, to go into Closed Session to discuss the purchase of real estate. Roll call. Ayes: Lees, Pilger, Hockett, Crowner and Johnson. Nays: None. Motion carried.
OLD BUSINESS:
Review Plans for New City Hall with City Council and Staff – Department Heads reviewed their recommendations for space for the new City Hall. The Council agreed they need to determine the necessary size of Council Chambers. Staff will meet with Metzger Johnson next week to go over another design that is smaller than the first design. Council feels the first design was too big. They also discussed having the main entrance on Broadway Street.
CITIZEN’S INQUIRIES: Randy McPherson who lives on Brushtown Road told the Council he thinks the City should require residents in the Brushtown area to clean up their property. He also said he has an easement from his neighbor that he has always maintained and now that property owner has put stakes and wire in the easement and he is unable to mow. He asked the Council to encourage property owners to take care of their property.
ADJOURN: There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 8:47 p.m. upon motion by Lees and second by Pilger. Voice Vote: All Ayes. Motion carried.
